Low Carbon Products supply 100% recycled plastic decking boards and lumber supports.
The use of
recycled plastic for
decking, both on large scale commercial projects and in the garden, has increased rapidly in recent years.

The reasons for this shift are both ecological, and practical.
Firstly, the use of tropical hardwood for decking was totally
unsustainable. Masses of rainforest has been cleared, partly for grazing, and partly out of demand for this attractive wood to make products such as decking. This rapid felling of the rainforest is an ecological disaster, and must be stopped by any means possible. Part of that is by finding
alternate materials for things like decking.
In addition to the environmental need for change, using green decking also brings significant
practical benefits.

The material is far more
durable than wood, it will not rot, split, splinter and is more resistant to impact. It will last for many years longer than wood
without the need for replacement. It is also resistant to algae growth, and cannot be damaged by insects. These qualities also make it perfect for use in wet environments, and
Low Carbon Products decking boards have been used widely for fishing platforms, escape routes in areas prone to flooding and on seaside promenades.

Green decking is also
maintenance free: it does not need painting or treating with varnish or preservatives, meaning it can be left alone indefinitely. If it gets dirty it can easily be wiped down, and because paint cannot penetrate the grain, graffiti can also easily be washed off.
The surface texture of the plastic decking is rougher than with wood, creating more friction underfoot and thus making it
non-slip (or at the very least 'less-slip' than wood) meaning public bodies are keen to utilise it for safety reasons.
Low Carbon Products 'green' decking boards (available in black or brown!) are good for the planet, practically advantageous and financially beneficial in the long run.
Low Carbon Products offer a
150mm x 38mm x 3600mm grooved decking board made from 100% recycled plastic, diverted from landfill and manufactured in the UK, and the recycled plastic lumber profiles with which to construct the supports and handrails etc.
